Where
Falls Creek is a hidden gem in the Victorian High Country, offering unique experiences in both winter and the warmer months. While it's famously known for its snow-capped landscapes during winter, the green season unveils the true charm of the area.
Access to Falls Creek:
During summer, there are two main routes to reach Falls Creek, both offering picturesque views and wonderful photo opportunities.

The Main Route: This route, which passes through Mt Beauty, is the most commonly traveled. If you're driving from Melbourne, it's about a 4.5-hour journey. From Albury, it's a 2-hour drive, and from Mt Beauty, just 45 minutes. On your way, you can make stops at nearby towns like Bright or Myrtleford—both are picturesque and perfect for a quick break to stretch your legs and explore.

The Back Road: The second route to Falls Creek is the scenic back road. It offers a winding mountain drive with stunning views, perfect for photo ops. The road passes through Omeo and around the Rocky Valley Dam, with spectacular vistas of Falls Creek. This route also provides a unique glimpse into the aftermath of bushfires, with areas where burnt trees still stand, creating a hauntingly beautiful landscape. Please note that this road is closed during winter and may also be inaccessible after substantial summer snowfalls.
Start Line:
The start line and festival area is located on the open grass at Slalom Plaza.
The Course:
The course will lead you on an adventure linking a mixture of trails from walking tracks, MTB trails and grassy ski slopes.

There are no check points or water access along the course - please be self sufficient

There is a 2hr cut off time for the course, this is to ensure everyone's safety on the day.

What
What to Bring for the Race
Weather-Dependent Essentials: A waterproof/windproof jacket, gloves, and a beanie or buff to keep warm and protected from the elements and warm layers.
Suitable Running Clothing: Wear clothing appropriate for running on trails - it could be muddy/ wet
Over 1hr on the Trail: Recommended to bring 250-500ml hydration and a light snack to keep energy levels up.
Phone: Always a good idea to carry your phone in case of emergency and to capture the stunning views!
What is the trail like underfoot?
The trail is a mixture of grassy ski slopes, dirt road and single track (mountain bike trails). you can expect some small water crossings and mud (especially if it's been raining recently), jutting tree roots and rocks. The trail is designed to be suitable for beginners through to advanced so don't fear if you've never run on a trail before, this is a perfect place to start. While you do not need specific trail runners for this track they will help you feel more stable and safe guard your feet from the stones.
What is the Event About?
This event is all about fun, encouragement, and trail running! It’s designed to be family-friendly (but not for strollers), welcoming participants 5 years and older. The trail has it all, with strong ups, flowy downs, water crossings, some rocks/ roots (pick up those feet) but so enjoyable, making it accessible runners of all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or just getting started, the event focuses on having fun while challenging yourself in the beautiful outdoors.
What to Do During Easter Weekend Outside of the Race?
If you're attending over the Easter weekend, there’s plenty to keep you entertained outside of the race:
Easter Family Fun: Head to the Village Bowl on Sunday for Easter family fun activities! It’s a great spot to spend time with loved ones and enjoy the festivities.
Take in the Scenery: Explore the breathtaking natural beauty around the resort. Relax, take in the views, and enjoy the fresh air.
Bike Ride: Whether you’re into mountain biking, a casual ride or road cyclist keen on hitting some elevation, the area offers fantastic routes suitable for all types of bikes.
Explore Local Trails: Outside of the resort, there are plenty of beautiful trails to discover. Perfect for a scenic hike or run to take in more of the High Country’s beauty.
Visit Cattlemans Huts: Explore the Wallace, Cope Hut, and Pretty Valley Hut, all of which are accessible by car. For a more adventurous journey, take a 10km hike to the Tawonga Huts..
Visit Mt Nelse: breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across the surrounding landscape and for those eager to explore further, the hike also features short 1km detours to the historic Johnstons and Edmonds Huts, adding extra charm to your adventure.

Who is suitable to join this event
This event is open to everyone aged 5 and up, making it an inclusive opportunity for all to get out and give trail running a go. Experienced racers can challenge themselves with a timed run on a smooth, flowy course, or even bring friends along to share in the excitement. If you're new to racing or trail running, this is the perfect course to start your journey – you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.
Is the track pram/stroller friendly?
No. The trail is a mixture of grassy ski slopes, narrow single track (with jutting roots and rocks) and dirt road and therefore not friendly for strollers. Though there will be plenty to do at the finish line for those who are unable to compete. stay tuned to what will happening in the festival area.

Why not! It's a fun, all-inclusive morning out, exploring the local trails while earning your finisher's medal (and, of course, some chocolate). By participating in this event, you’re not only supporting the Run For Resilience Stroke Foundation Fundraiser, but also contributing to the local community’s resilience and recovery efforts following the 2023 Landslide.
